DANCE AS IN THE COMMUNITY
Dance belongs everywhere
Festivals, parades, youth programs, workshops, and local partnerships bring Dance AS beyond the studio and into the life of our community.
MORE THAN A PLACE TO TAKE CLASS
Showing up matters.
We believe dance has a place at community celebrations, on festival stages, along parade routes, and anywhere people gather.
These experiences give dancers meaningful opportunities to share their work while learning that their artistry can contribute to something larger than themselves. They also make dance visible and accessible to families in familiar community spaces.

COMMUNITY IN MOTION
Proud to show up, perform, and
participate.
Dance AS has become part of festivals, celebrations, parade routes, and community
programs throughout Dumfries and the surrounding region.
dance as extension
Bringing meaningful dance experiences into community spaces.
Dance AS Extension brings dance beyond the walls of our studio and into the community. Through partnerships with schools and local organizations, we create engaging arts experiences where young dancers can explore movement, build foundational skills, and discover new ways to express themselves.
One-time workshops
Single-week programs
Multi-week programs
Each Extension experience is developed with the partner organization to reflect the participants’ ages, goals, setting, and available time.
performance ensemble
Young artists representing Dance AS.
The Dance AS Performance Ensemble is a performance-based opportunity for middle- and high-school dancers ready to share their work beyond the studio.
Ensemble members learn and rehearse choreography for community events, festivals, parades, and other appearances throughout the season—developing reliability, adaptability, performance quality, and connection as a team.
Our Community Partners
“Artistry grows when dancers discover that what they create can reach beyond themselves.”
